BLUE HILL AT STONE BARNS

 

Raw materials gathered from Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture are handwoven on a floor loom to create a tapestry for the private dining room at Blue Hill. The piece brings together the plants and animals that define its landscape. The geometry of the farm’s cultivated rows is echoed in the woven pattern, creating a visual rhythm that reflects the organization and movement of the landscape itself.

Wool from Stone Barns’ Finn Dorset and Shropshire sheep and dried wheat are woven alongside horsehair from Winterburn Farm, continuing the dialogue between Stone Barns and Blue Hill. Together, these locally sourced natural materials reflect the traditions of slow craft and handwork.
